Radio Communicator Duties &
On-Site Instructions
Please ID every 10 minutes with extended traffic OR with your LAST "Traffic Transmission"
Back & forth traffic over a few minures does not require an ID with every transmission,
BUT, you MUST ID with the LAST transmission in that short series of transmissions.
Your primary objective as a radio operator is to provide accurate, timely and relevant information
to the Ride Director and staff through the NCS.
Please remember to listen 2-3 seconds BEFORE you begin your transmission.
If you have an EMERGENCY, announce it.
Example: "WA6EWV WITH EMERGENCY TRAFFIC."
NCS will then clear the net
and
ALL OTHER STATIONS SHOULD HOLD TRAFFIC UNTIL THE EMERGENCY IS CLEARED BY NCS.
If you have amateur radio magnetic signs, please use them on your vehicle.
If you have a fluorescent "Radio" vest, consider wearing it.
This event is a communications challenge and a good opportunity for experimenting
with antennas, radios and other equipment.
PLEASE Introduce yourself to the Site Captain.
He/She is aware you are the communications link.
For riders wishing to be SAG'ed Forward,
PLEASE ONLY REPORT THE NUMBER OF RIDERS WAITING!
We only require actual rider numbers when they are "ON BOARD" the SAG Vehicle!
Times to secure are approximate!
PLEASE be prepared to
REMAIN ON STATION
if requested!.
