To my fellow Amateur Radio operators at the 2022 Death Ride!

The RETURN OF THE DEATH RIDE
and certainly
NOT
just another Death Ride!

This year was truely a "RESET" for the ride with the event being canceled the last two years.
We experienced:
A New Course
New Directors
and
New Communicatin requirements

All this and more truely tested our resolve and
field communication capabilities like never before.

TARA's communication events are always interesting and demanding.
AND
With the NEW COURSE
this year, it was
VERY CHALLENGING !!
.

I'm always proud to be associated with you in the communication center for the Death Ride.
Your quick and calm responses allow the NCS ops in the TARA communication van to relay your traffic
in a timely and meaningful manner.

This year especially required accurate traffic handling due to the
extension of the highway 4 leg to almost Lake Alpine on the Pacific grade!

This increased distance required the use of the New Hawkins peak repeater.
AKA; TWO repeaters to communicate through to handle traffic for the event!
There will be refinements next year as it was challanging for all with the two active channels.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU
to the crew from the
Calaveras Amateur Radio Society, Inc.
(click for their web site)

They stepped in to provide Ham communications at those far out western Rest Stops
along with the extended equipment to
insure we had reliable communication from that far west area !

This was Amateur Radio Spirit at it's BEST!

We also had some "extended" on site time for our radio operators due to
the "Unique" combination of all the new requirements for the 2022 ride !

Through all of this, you provided the professional communications that helped insure
quick responses to the events emergency and routine traffic .

A number of you have commented about the many thank you’s from the riders - again, "WELL DONE" !

Also, TARA Thanks the SIERA club
for the use of the
147.33 repeater.
The generosity extended by the club truly sets an example of the
"Spirit of Amateur Radio" !

Again, My Thanks to ALL
and congratulations on your performance and
AMATEUR RADIO SPIRIT
you exhibited during the Death Ride, 2022 !
